does anyone here know when they started using plywood in furniture over solide wood pieces... for instance have a old but not ancient buffet and it has ply panels. but the frame work is solid.. how did they get the solid wood to work on the old furniture with wide areas to cover? or did they leave it open when ever possible.. say a large chest of drawers????

Its probably been used in furniture for a long time, just wasn't coined as Plywood, rather as veneered wood. Have seen some reference of it being used in furniture back to 1850. :dunno:

Thanks, guys. Its the old woodworking teacher in me!

No, Larry, it is not 'wrong'. 'Wrong" meets one or more of three criteria; it didn't work, you shed blood, or you need clean underwear. :thumb:

True of most things in life, actually. Maybe that's why I'm now also a minister!
