A couple mallet's

I wanted to do these for a while, finally got them finished up. 3 are from ShopNotes #2, Joiners Mallet. Each end is filled with lead split shot weights.

From left to right Ipe, Bubigna and Bloodwood. I also had a piece of persimmon and made one from it. All the handles are made of hickory.

I'd think about chamfering the corners, they look nice and sharp now, but could damage easily............ that is if anyone uses such pretty mallets! :D
 
Thanks Stu!! I actually did chamfer the corners after I took the pictures. Hopefully they will get used, I plan on smacking some stuff with the one I keep. :D:D

The lead shot is a great idea, is it packed tight or loose, like a deadblow mallet?

I'd make one with lead shot, but it is hard to find here and expensive! No shotguns to speak of you know :rolleyes:
