So I came across this piece of wood with a copper cap. Any guesses what it is?:dunno::dunno:

It is a 12 foot chunk of the railing from the SSS Horst Wessel. Built in 1936 in Hamburg, Germany. Horst Wessel was taken as a war reparation by the United States in 1946 and renamed USCGC Eagle (WX-327). Still in active service out of CT.

I was going to say from the same ship that Bob the Cannon came from :rofl:

I was on the Eagle this past summer when it came to Portsmouth. Maybe I recognized the railing from my tour of the ship.
