Looking for a particular kind of vise...

I'm looking for a vise that mounts in a single hole through a workbench. The mount is maybe 3/4" diameter and threaded so that you attach it with a oversize wing nut from the bottom. Anyone know where I can find one like that?

Thanks,
Charlie

I have seen a few in the past, but cannot remember where - memory is going sorry. They were older designs though, not something that I remember being offered currently.

The Veritas carving vise has a separate screw to mount it through a dog hole:

It might be adapted to the vise of your choice. Just a thought.

What were you going to use it for? That might help narrow down the search.

Here's one similar to what I remember with a custom made mount:

Mid way down shows the vise mounting.
And the vise:

I think these were used for gun making as well.

Woodcraft has one similar to the vise Ronald posted as well as the parrot vise:

Wes, the Veritas is the right idea but I was looking for something beefier.

Ron, bingo! Didn't think about looking at StewMac, yet that's exactly what I want it for, duh.

Wes, the Grizzly looks like an option too and I'll have to think about the extra work vs. cost tradeoff.

Thanks guys.

If you buy the one from Stew-Mac let me know what you think. I will pick up one soon too... Well maybe soon is relative. I have a few things to take care of first.
