Avacado Wood Question

I ran into a ad in the paper where a guy is selling a full truck load of Avacado tree wood (cut about 3 weeks ago) and the cost is $50.00.
Has anyone turned avacado ? and is it any good for turning ?
 
I've seen some pics of finished avocado bowls that looked nice. As I recall, it's supposed to be nice to turn, too. Come to think of it, I believe I've got a piece of it somewhere in the indoor wood stash. Dang, another item for the To-Do list. :rolleyes:
 
Avacado wood question

I have a whole tree that I am in the process of taking down.I cut some down last year and turned a few pieces just to see what its like.Turned very nice,but nothing to brag about as far as texture, color or fancy grain pattern.I wouldn't by it,unless you just wanted something to practice on.if you were near Tampa,I would give it to you.
 
yeah i got a kick that he called it firewood but I may see if he will sell some of it because i really dont want that much of it - I have mesquite stacked up around here to for turning which im still working with.
