OK another weekend is here so wacha got planned

finishing up the 9 sets of candle holders (last coats of shellac). working out the design for my nephew's coffee table, and finding out what the church people my wife volunteered me to build something for (pulpito) want exactly... lol

Hoping to actually get some time in turning...haven't since before Christmas. The shop floor looks naked right now without any curlies all over it.

Too cold for the shop. I need about 8 hours of 60-65 degrees to get the paint finished up for the mobile base for the saw. It's killing me that I'm just sitting here waiting!!!!:(
I have to work tomorrow am. LOML has been looking for a headboard for the guest bed. Has located one about 50 minutes away on CL that matches our master bedroom furniture. If the measurements look like it will fit in her minivan, we will probably take a road trip to look at, bring back if we like it. She's also looking at a computer armoire. Both of these things are cheaper than I can buy the wood to make, and if she's happy with them, then I'm happy. Other than that, it will be my job to keep the fireplace going. Jim.

Too cold for shop. Snow is coming down with an (another?) ice storm threatening. Daughter and her dogs are visiting. Just trying to kill time. Ice storm possibility is scary. Tried starting the generator yesterday. Couldn't. Battery is dead and I hurt my already damaged shoulder trying the pull start.
Watching boring TV, spending time on 'puter. Distractions preventing writing. Promises to be a fun filled weekend. Not. :(

Hi, I just joined the forum a few days ago and wanted to introduce myself. I started woodworking last year because I was tired of looking for furniture and not being able to find what we needed. I've built a couple things from modified plans and a couple from pictures and my wife continues to come up with new projects for me to work on. :)

I've started working on a table for the kids to sit at for snacks and projects to keep the dining room table from getting covered in glue and stuff.

I've got all the pieces cut and will be assembling it this weekend using pocket screws. It will look similar to this: http://www.greatpubtables.com/pub-t...ts/kitchenislandbistrosetwithsaddlestools.cfm

I look forward to reading more on these helpful forums. :thumb:

Edit:
I'm in Minnesota and have a heated two car garage but just moved the second car into the garage so now I barely have enough space to operate my table saw and assemble my projects but it's better than having to scrape my windows every morning. :)

My weekend begins today at 2:00 when I meet my friend at the annual Washington State "hunt, fish and kill show" (officially known as the "Sportsman Show"). I'll be looking for a new pair of gloves to wear while I steelhead fish and perhaps a new rod tube for my 8 weight. After the show, I'm taking my wife to her favorite restaurant to belatedly celebrate her birthday.

Saturday I'm going to work on a small project designed to hold my dog's food and water dishes in one place.

Sunday, who knows? If I can talk someone else into joining me, perhaps church. If not, probably just puttering around.

Wife said this morning she wants a date night tonight. Ok Friday evening planed now I will hunt tomorrow for the last deer hunting day of the season. No game on this weekend so I will start a painting on Sunday. My son said something about state meet for wrestling and I need to find out if it is this weekend.

Need to put the Vega fence back on the table saw after the rails are cut down. Anticipate having a 36" rip capacity after the modification.

Plan on making a second medicine cabinet for the master bathroom and install it in the space behind the door.

If time permits, finish the shelving for my daughter's loft bed.

Got a head cold coming on, so probably just taking it easy since the garage is too cold. Need to work on a programming project anyway, so will do some key tapping on the laptop mostly.

I'm also thinking about taking my wife to see the Avatar 3D movie. I hear it's pretty good, production wise anyway.

BTW...Dan P., Welcome to the Family!

Maybe going to our local ag and rural lifestyle show this evening after taking LOML out for pizza. Tomorrow have an estate sale to escort my wife so I can carry and then work on a small box to put cremains of one daughter's Jack Russel that she had to put down earlier in week. He was 14 and really ill. Want to make it large enough to be able to put photo on the top -- maybe 3 X 5 pic or 4 X 6. Nothing real fancy, but special for her. Other than that, try to keep warm. FYI, Darren, our son-in-law says Avatar is really good, especially production stuff. Saw it at Barry rd. in 3-D. And welcome Dan P. I don't post much, but sure do learn a lot and great people.

I was going Ice Fishing with a friend. Then (LOML srcatch that) after this she is SWIBO reminded me MIL is coming on Monday and i gotta get a bunch of things done in anticipayion of her arrival.:(:):huh:

So thats my ice fishing trip out the window and my shop time evaporated. Dang. I aint looking forward to the next two weeks. Thinking of moving into my shop and hiding out.:rofl::rofl:

Jim.

Jim I spoke with your wife and she said it would be fine with her if you painted that saw thingy on the kitchen table.:thumb: *ducks and runs*:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Going to Bertucci's for pizza tonight. We have a gift certificate that is about 6 months old.
I have shop time all weekend so hopefully I'll finishng the pine hutch for my son.
Found a drippy hot water line in the basement this morning. Gotta figure where its leaking and fix it.

Yeah, thanks...you're too far away to say, "But Chuck said you said it was ok!!" Besides, I don't duck fast enough for her, even when I have a head start!!!:rofl::rofl: Jim.

So your wife is like Eddy Murphy's mother and can hit you with her shoe before you even knew she through it.:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Gonna cook a brisket in the smoker tomorrow for some guests we're having over on Sunday, so it's been rubbed and wrapped, and it's waiting in the fridge for tomorrow. Also gonna be doing various cleanup stuff around the house in preparation for company. (LOML thinks you're supposed to clean house before guests come over. Sheesh. That woman.)

Aside from a bit of cleaning up in the shop, about the only thing I've got planned is to continue finishing work on a couple bowls, and get some of my bench tools like planes and chisels sharpened up. One of the Sunday guests is going to give me some pointers about my planes, and I don't want him to think I keep dull tools. :D
