Portable sawmill advice?

Rick,

I should have added a caution for metal in the logs.... if the log is a yard or fence line tree -- watch out...

I guess a metal detector should be on my wish list. My property was a farm, but has been totally overgrown. I find a piece of wire fence here and there - but no way to be sure about the trees. I expect some logs may have a staple embedded.
I should go ahead a purchase a couple of spare blades. Not planning on the sharpener at this time - guess I will have to send them off to be sharpened.

I will try to take it slow to build up the learning curve, but no promises :D
I will save the best wood logs for later...

I am soooo looking forward to this :)
Gonna be a thrill to see a flatwork end product where I do all the work from tree cutting to finish. Eventually, from seed/sapling to finish :thumb::thumb:

For me it is a real thrill to see (do)-- my trees, my lumber, my project, my finished project, my smile on someone else's face.

There are many commercial sawmills in this area - but it more rewarding and FUN cutting my own !!
