There might be something to being obsessed. Maybe I should try it sometime. 
I have a coal scoop (shovel) that I know dates back to, at least, 1936 or earlier. Before I was born. Never had handle oiled or anything. Comes out of the garage for odd ball uses a couple times a year. Mebbe I should oil so it will hold up.
