I figured it was about time for me to start catching up on my picture posting. This bowl is ash from my firewood lot stash, about 12" by 6" and finished with Watco Natural Danish oil.

Dunno what compelled me to undercut the rim the way I did, but I kinda like how it came out. I'm interested to see your thoughts on it. All comments and critiques are welcome.

... I am a big fan of the undercut shape. How did you keep all that bark on? Great job!

Sharp tools and blind luck, I'm guessing. :D There was a chunk of bark missing on the outside edge of the blank, so the undercut rim is the result of turning away the blemished spot but still trying to get as big of bowl diameter as possible

Thanks for the compliments, all.

Very nice work Vaughn. I like that undercut too. The bowl i got from Chuck in the swap had one and it sure adds an interesting feature.

I remained mystified as to how you keep that bark on. Oh boy i got lots still to learn.

I also like the way the ash grain came out in the bottom of the bowl.:thumb:
