Finishes for Gun Grips

I've got a small handgun that I'm thinking about making some book-matched grips for out of tiger maple. I'm just curious what finishes should be used on them?

I don't know how it differs from BLO, but I used it on a lap steel guitar I made 30 years or so ago, and the finish still looks great.

Lin Speed is highly regarded among gun builders. Like Vaughn, I don't know what makes it different than other high quality BLOs on the market except it is clearly much superior than the rest. Good choice.
Whatever you choose, use an oil. Other finishes might be hard on the hands and/or get slickery while holding. Bill G. would probably be our best authority here on this subject.

Thanks guys, got some on order. Is it alright to use this over stain or dyes? I'd don't think I'm going to, may or may use lacewood or walnut instead.

I'm updating the grips on my Phoenix HP22, it's a fun little gun to shoot. Picked it up a few weeks ago. New it was only $150.
