Personally, I think you'll like Winders 7.

I liked it so much, I installed it on 3 of my personal machines here at home.

My work PC still runs XP and I'm liking it less day by day..

It's not really all that different, IMHO, the biggest challenge is getting used to the reliability and how you can 'pin' items to the task bar.

Scary.
After reading all those specs I'm ready to go back to this below.
Really, I'm considering pulling the trigger on a new 'puter also. 8 gig memory and a Terrabyte hard drive. "Beam me up, Scotty."
But, you got a real nice unit, should last you a long time.

Bart you gonna love it. I have recently upgraded one of my Xp machines. Made sure first to check the processor can handle the virtual pc bit.

I was lucky got i just under the wire.

Turned out my version of quickbooks needed me to run it in virtual pc mode. What a pleasure it was to resolve all that.

This was the very first time i can say i have enjoyed windows. And it surprises me every day. The ease of finding things well it took them long enough to get with the program.

Still when the new machine time comes around I am going Mac. I dont like the number of times i have been fleeced to get to this point.

For me its a bitter sweet relationship.

Another couple of things I am using Firefox & Thunderbird. I installed Xmarks in my Desk top a while back...great program I had all my bookmarks back in this new note book with a click. I like it that Thunderbird is similar to Outlook Express with some improvements.

Its fun getting used to the touch pad style mouse. I am having some problem with mouse over & with it opening what ever it is over without me actually selecting it. Is there an adjustment for this?
