Up for sale is the only Greene & Greene house in LA - for only $775,000. That has to be a great price! 2175 Cambridge Street, Los Angeles
4 bedrooms 2.5 baths 2 stories 2,620 square feet 6,011 square foot lot

Of course, all you can do is live there, you can never make any changes since it is a protected property under various conservancy laws. But then, why change it?

Meh...the neighborhood's too deep into the city. :D The fact that the asking price is that low for an historic 4 bedroom house is another indication the neighborhood is not the grand place it most likely used to be. I'd think in the right neighborhood, say Pasadena, that house would sell for closer to a million.

Zillow puts the price at under a half million, which looks about right for the neighborhood:

Look up 2175 Cambridge Street, Los Angeles on Google Maps and check out the street view of the neighborhood. Have a look at the cars and the yards. Like many areas of LA, it's an area rich in history, but it's seen better and more affluent times. When the Greene brothers built the house, it was probably the crown jewel in a great neighborhood. Nowadays it's sort of a pity it is where it is, although in time, the neighborhood could come back up in stature. Still a very cool house, though. :thumb: Thanks for the link, Rennie.

I live about 7 miles from this house but even this short distance makes a huge difference when it comes to variation in real estate value and the quality of neighborhood. This same house would go for over a million dollars if it was located 7 to 8 miles west of where it is now.
