I had some odd pieces of cedar closet lining and wanted to use them up,they are so thin and narrow I had to do someglue ups.
Glue up 2 thin boards.JPG
After putting two together then I made a press so as to get 3/8" thick
Put all 4 boards in press.JPG
Sand and cut to size
After sanding.JPG They come out three eighths thick.JPG
I made a finger joint jig styled after the one that Rockler sells

Used wooden hinges that I had made earlier

Chest also has a tray for smaller items

Was a fun little project.:D:thumb::rofl:

Nice is a nice word but Lovely is more better. Quite impressive lil' chest. Thanks for posting, my list of 2dos just keeps growing...

Great project Ron. The jig is great.:thumb: I don't know why anyone would spend $$$$ to buy a finger joint jig when they are so easy to make.
Making wooden hinges would be a great tutorial ;);)

Very nice work Ron. Wooden hinge and all excellent.

You now got me thinking on the finger joint jig. On my to do list was one for the table saw, but i like what you have there much better especially for short side boxes.:thumb:

Acctually the Jig I made is more for the router table,but there is no limit to the size of pieces you can run on it. However my version of rocklers jig requiers a seperate set up(base and push sled for each size of joint). I made one for about 4 different sizes. As far as the hinges go thay were made on incra Jig. Mine is a very old one so not as easy as the newer ones. But still very doable.
