Picture 1 - Took the roughed out pepper tree vessel out of soak this morning and let it air dry for several hours -Then remounted on the lathe for sanding. I sanded thru 400 and put in the soak of oil.......more later
Picture 2 - Next I decided to turn some Ironwood and wanted to cut it so the end grain was outward. I used a home made sled type to take off a slice so I could cut it in that orientation.
Picture 3 - Sliced and then cut down the middle - then rounded and taken to the lathe
Picture 4 - Rough turned hollow form from the cutting
Picture 5 - came out blurry but it was another one of the ironwood blanks - soaked for 24hrs in oil bath, dried for a day and 1 coat of DO applied.....now drying out inside to avoid the checking.......so far so good....................
