My dear LOML and I just got back from a little trip to New England. We spent most of a day at Hancock Shaker Village. They have pieces there on display that you can get right up to. You could touch it, but I didn't. All I can say is that the hand work was just sublime. Here are some pictures.

The Shaker folk certainly had a grasp on simplicity. That did not mean there was no design though when you jus look at the round table.

How is that bench. :eek: Bet old Chris Schwarz would be happy as a lark seeing that leg vice etc.:D
