I just completed turning the lid for a cookie jar that I completed a few days ago. The cookie jar is already finished with Wipe-On Poly in a Gloss finish. When I finished the lid I grabbed the wrong can and used Satin finish.

If I use Gloss over the satin will it work out or do I need to sand the whole thing down and do it again? :( :dunno:

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
.....Gord

I vote for "Square One" Satin finish has aluminum Oxide suspended in the finish to defuse the light so that instead of reflecting back as a gloss it is scatters the light and Blah Blah Blah... Additional Gloss finish over the satin will make for a shiny result but, as Don said, not as clear or brilliant.

I always use Gloss and prefer to soften the glow with an oil rub of Pumice to obtain the luster I prefer... Therefore, no satin in the house to make that mistake. :thumb: Most likely the only reason I haven't made that Oops... When it comes to Oops, BTDT
