Got an order for a Quilt Rack the other day. Had never made one before,so went on the net and found a couple of pictures to show the customer and she wanted one that was very plain and unclutered looking. She wanted it made from Oak so I was able to find what I needed from HD.

Cut most all pieces to size and did a layout for the mortace & tendon

Cut the foot pieces and all the mortices & tendons

Kind of time consuming as I have no mortice machine. But all went well.
Used screws as well in each of the rails and put buttons over the screws

Rounded over all pieces and sanded to 220 assembly was a little tricky as I had to line up all 8 pieces at same time.

She is going to do the finishing her self, lucky me.:D:thumb::rofl:

It is a simple design, but nicely done...:thumb:

I, myself have done quite a few, some from designs "copied" from web found pictures, but some from my own design. I have found that most don't want fancy detailed designs but prefer the simple design. I design based on the room the holder will be used, and try to copy the furniture being used.

Awhile back I posted a simple Beadboard paneled holder (painted white) to match the bedroom furniture in the recipiant's home.

Thanks for posting your design, it has inspired me to make a few more holders utilizing some design ideas I have been mulling over.
