A couple of little afternoon Bon Bon dishes, 150mm dia,

Wood was labelled as Myrtle [suspect it's Australian Acacia/Wattle?]


And no, that is not a flat on the rim at 11 o'clock in the 3rd image, just a strong light reflection off the MC wax finish.

Thanks for the links Dan, this wood is very red (Cedar like but harder and quite heavy) and has some maple like figuring, I only surmised it was from Australia as it came to me among other Australian blocks which were labelled with their Export Origin, all covered in wax, so presumably found their way to the UK whilst still unseasoned and green. Judging by the price labels on some pieces it must be about 30 yrs old and is down below 8% moisture. It had been blocked with a chain saw.
