Brent I read the recipe and it was lamb, bacon and apricots with a curry spice...

Yeah, we love lamb around here. Make some persian kebabs with it usually with some persian rice with the 'tadig'. Basically steamed rice that gets a crisply layer of fried rice on the bottom.
Definitely have to give that apricot/lamb/bacon thing a try.

So, as an old world-travelled sailor, did you try the monkey on a stick in the Philippines? How about the dog on a stick in Korea?
Actually, I've tried both, and neither on is all that bad. BTW neither of them taste like chicken!

Good on ya Stu, that is just good old fashioned inginuity. I hate throwing things out too if they can be fixed (and everything can be fixed in my opinion). On saying that though I have learned to stopped collecting things that I can fix as i only have so much space

Sharon gave me an A on the chicken and a B+ on the tempura. I think she was generous, but it tasted good and the tempura was crispy.
Made the Yakatori with chicken thighs (my favorite) and the tempura had some yam, mushroom, cauliflower, and carrot.

You make me hungry. Next time try some dried apricots in between the chicken pieces. Also add some peppers and onion.
