Nailer cubby

I was a very good boy and got the set of air nailers I was asking for.

Now, this is going to be extremely vague but I need help finding something I've seen for storing them. I think it was a drawer, and the nailers sat upright in slots waiting to be used. Don't know where I saw it, but I know I've seen it. Google hasn't served me well tonight.

If you know what I'm talking about, please throw me a line.

Min are stored like that. I have them in the bottom drawr of my assembly table. I just used peices of 3/4 ply between the guns nailed thru the bottom of the drawer. Most of my tools are in drawers.

If you would be so kind as to take a pic of that at some point, I'd be much obliged. It's not any kind of hurry, it'll be a good month at least before I get started on making my cabs.

I can't believe I haven't found where I've seen it yet.

How about just making a 1/4" dado or groove inside the front & back of the drawer for a 1/4" divider & make cut outs in the divider to leave room to reach in to pick the nailer out of the drawer. Keep it simple.

I can see that a couple of different ways.

I've been looking too. One idea I'm thinking about is to make a rolling cart for my pancake compressor with storage cubbies for the tools and a drawer for the misc. items. Looking forward to see what you come up with for your needs.

Here are a few adaptable ideas.

Excellent Links Leonard! And welcome aboard!!!

I like the way they stored the air tools using the connectors. Those connectors are cheap enough at Harbor Freight. I might just use that idea... :thumb:

Or a 1/4 npt nipple threaded on both ends. Could thread the other end right into a hole in a block of wood, or perhaps a 1/4 npt cap...

Thanks for the welcome. Nice site and very intelligent members. :D

Here is a better view:

Link to thread at www.garagejournal.com. You may need to free register to see all the pics. The other designs use male & female connected through a piece of angle iron. One more design down the page shows a drilled and slotted setup that does not need additional couplers.

Thanks for the links and welcome aboard Leonard. When you get a chance go to the welcome forum in the off topic area and introduce your self. We love pics around here.

Yeah, I saw that thread when it started over there.

I think I found what I was looking for, but I won't know for sure for about an hour.

Where I got the idea was I believe a Wood Whisperer podcast, but there wasn't as much detail given as I thought I remembered. I have a couple of ideas I'm considering, including simple stalls - plywood about 3" high as dividers, and a false floor with profiles cut out that the nailers drop into. The remainder of the drawer is probably going to be for nails and staples, and NPT fittings and any other air tools I come across.

I keep all my nails and driver bits in one of those diver cabinets that hang on the wall. Just dont do like I did once. I was refilling the cabinets with nails and I started putting the 15 and 18 guage nails of the same size in the same bins. Good thing is my helper had the fun job of sorting them all out.:D:rofl:
