I showed up to my parents place Saturday to find my dad out back 'whittling' away at some PVC pipe. I thought he had gone off the deep end.

Actually he was making some yard ornaments out of PVC. He cuts them out, then heats them with a torch to bend them to shape. Here's an example of some that he still needed to clean up and paint.

He was actually cutting out a duck, never got to see the finished piece. Will see if I can get the patterns from him or find out where he got them.

That is so neat!! Way to go dad! :thumb::thumb:
Those plans would be neat for my shop kids, both wood and metal shop kids to try! Cross curricular plans, wood shop cut them out, metal shop heat and bend!!!

Cute idea. Perhaps not the most healthy idea due to the potential release of phthalates and vinyl chlorides while heating but probably not a significant issue due to what I presume is a fairly limited exposure.
