It is indeed but that doesn't take away its interest. Since Escher made his drawings many people have imitated them both in 2D and 3D objects.

The consensus seems to be it's a combination of clever construction (it's actually built flat on the floor) a good angle for the illusion, and cgi-generated water. Oh, and a powered pump...
