A Couple of Shallow Bowls

I thought that I'd post a couple of pictures of two shallow bowls I turned a few months ago. The first is turned from a nice peice of maple, and the second is cherry. The center is walnut, which came about as I turned the bottom too thin! I didn't want to waste the piece, so I turned a 'button' to fill the gap.

Nice turnings Gari. I'm willing to bet that most of the turners have made that yype of repair before. My first OOPS like that I ended up fixing the hole with a penny.

Nice save, Gari.

When I blow a hole through the bottom, the offending "funnel" usually ends up in the trash.

I like your method much better:) .
