Very cool, what's that instrument she's playing? 8 strings? too big for a mandolin...

I think Darren's right about it being an octave ukulele. (She's also running the sound through a digital delay to fatten up the sound a bit.) According to her bio, she started playing the ukulele when she was 5.
 
Pretty cool music. I think the theatrics kind of took away from the performance though. Her fast fingers made me think of another band.

This is a video of Rodrigo and Gabriela. Gabriela has developed a technique where she hits and strums the guitar like the Irish bodhrán drum. It makes you think of Flamenco, but it isn't.

I'm thinking that the instrument in the original video is an 8 string Tenor ukulele with a cutaway.

Can't see close enough to determine the maker, so I'm guessing its a very expensive uke made by some high class luthier...

That is so cool.
