Aluminum twist lock rings from Woodpeckers

Well to be honest Steve the plastic ones I've used never impressed me cause they just didn't feel as solid as the metal ones. They switched to plastic to keep the cost down and not that it was any better. They have had such a demand for them that's why they are taking orders for them and are going to do a run of them plus some additional sizes.

I've never used the plastic ones as I got my full set of aluminum ones back when. I do find them extremly useful although not specifically because they are aluminum (although that is nice). The increase in safety by matching your throat opening to your bit is what I like.

I also sometimes run a larger opening than I could. This results in an increased down draft if I am doing an operation that doesn't allow the fence pickup to be used; like rabbbeting the inside of an assebled frame for example.
