I found an interesting article on oil finishes. Later in the article this guy rates a long list of brand name finishes.

not a bad article, lots of information. i like to keep things simple for oil finishes, if it touches food, mineral oil and beeswax, if not, boiled linseed oil, if a pen or pencil, the magic mix of boiled linseed oil, denatured alcohol, and shellac.
