need help identifying some wood

my coworker finally brought in the bit of lumber that a friend of hers who built guitars. it's a hardwood, and is roughly 2"x13"x5/8", not heavy like a cocobolo, or other such wood, but not too light either. when wetted with water, the heartwood is a bit of a reddish brown, and the sapwood is a distinctly yellow color. it has a figuring on both the heart and sapwood that reminds me of an almost tiger or fiddleback. hopefully we can figure out what we have here....
 
I think you guys are probably right on the Koa.

The figure on the blank seems to match this much better...

thanks guys! i've got examples of the cocobolo heartwood/sapwood, but i've yet to see cocobolo with that kind of figuring. i'll let her know we've identified the mystery wood....:D:thumb:
