I have seen several articals on wooden hand planes but never gave them much thought untill I bought one last winter at a wood show. Then I decided I wanted one a bit larger than the rabbit plane I bought. So set to work on glueing up some Red Peduca and apiece of Oak to sepatate them and also to get the right width for the Plane blade. It has to be very close only 1/64th extra. The sides are of 1/4" maple. The wedge is of Red Peduca. It is 8" long by 2 1/8th" wide and at the tallest part 2". The part that is cut out to form the place for the blade and wedge should have been for the wedge. But I screwed up and made it a bit to thin so I had to make a second one for the wedge. A 1/4" brass rod gives the suport for blade and wedge. Tap it on the front to increase the cut and tap it on the back to decrease the cut.:thumb::D
I stole the blade from an old Stanly block plane.

Looks great, Ron. I'll bet it fits the hand very comfortably. :thumb: If it cuts half as good as it looks, I'd say you've got a winner.
