Here are a couple of turnings from a small cherry log I had and a small oak log. The cherry are calabash style and are 5 1/2" X 2 1/4" with 3/8" walls and the Oak NE is 6 1/2" X 4" with 3/8" walls. All three have one coat of Antique Oil on them. Didn't know what to do with the logs because they were small.

Thanks for the comments. Vaughn the oak was a little contrary at times but finally made it work. Didn't turn out to bad as when I cut the blank it had lots of cracks on the ends but thankfully they didn't go to deep.

Thanks Jim. I do really like turning oak. I have several pieces that were cut a year ago and even with two coats of anchorseal they still cracked on the ends. This piece would have been around 9 to 10 inches but turned away the cracks made it smaller.

Way to go Bernie!!! :thumb::thumb::thumb:
First picture, I really like the looks of the first one, it just seems to flow. But for a using bowl, popcorn and chips, that second one in that picture is a winner in my book!
For putting on a shelf, art type stuff, that NE bowl is great!
Great job, I am envious of the skill it takes to do those.
