Hey, folks,
On this day, in the year 49 CE, there was a huge fire in Rome. Some say Nero literally played the fiddle while he watched the city being consumed. I'm a little skeptical.
And in 1545, the Mary Rose sank off England. Believe it or not, they raised her a few years ago, and found many woodworking tools on board.
In 1870, France declared war on Prussia. They lost.
In 1893, Vladimir Mayakovsky, a poet no-one has ever heard of, was born in Georgia. Not the Georgia in the south, the one in Asia, near the Black Sea.
And on this date, a mere 29 years ago, our own Darren Wright was born, somewhere in the US.
Or so he claims!
Happy Birthday, Darren!
Thanks,
Bill
