Got a knock on the door a little while ago. It was the neighbor who gave me a large hackberry tree (that I helped him cut up) a few months ago. He was with another guy who had these persimmon logs on a trailer. Turns out he is a woodcutter and poorer than me. I paid him $20.00 for both. They are cut to 8' long and are about 8" diameter. Cut today. Tomorrow I'll cut into sections and seal the ends. Most will be given away but I'll use some on the spinner machine. Can be hard stuff to turn but is kinda pretty. I might save a few pieces for gavels or whatever that needs to be hard. He asked me about other woods I like. Sounds like I could go in the business of selling wood to turners and flatworkers...hmmmm.

That's a sweet haul... there's two persimmons standing in front of the old barn across the street from me... I keep hoping they don't put out leaves and persimmons in the spring so I can see about taking them down.... they just keep on blossoming and blooming... darn!
