A Little Upgrade..

Moving Forward..

So this morning we got the BLO on these two carcasses.
I'm really happy how the saw blade and dado set cabinet has come together.
The slides are going to work out just great....

My cherry and maple stock has run pretty much run out.
So I will be have to make another run to PJ White to stock up.
We are close to one month into this project and am real happy how far I have got so far.
The way it is going I may need a couple of more winter projects.:D

Hope everyone got a little shop time in this weekend.

The Whole Family.

Not a ton of shop time lately.
But enough to use up the last of my cherry and maple to get this far.
All but one of the carcasses with the faces on and most with the BLO bath.

Keen eyes can see the carcass in the center of the pic has the back grain running the wrong way wrong.
Just trying to use up all my sheet goods.;)

After work I made a run to the lumber guy and I am all stocked up again.
Give this stuff a couple of days to settle down in my shop and we will be back at it again....

I second what Vaughn has said but i gotta say Gary you got me thinking on doing the same. Not being totally organized is not conducive to productive work. There is a ton of merit in just getting it done and behind one. Looking forward to seeing the panorama shot of the shop after install.:)

I've been having problems with my knee the past while so progress in the shop has been a little low...
But that being said I have finally got the second last cabinet of sliding shelves done.
This one is for my routers.
I lucked out to get the PC box into the cabinet. Ended up having a 1/2" to spare on the depth.

Only one more sliding shelve to do and these will be behind me.
Last cabinet will be the home for my miter gauge.

Hope everyone is getting a little shop time.

Another Little Victory.

One more little victory on this project. No more sliding shelves to build...
The last one which will house my miter gauge was done this morning.

My plan is slowly coming together..

A Little Setback....

So last night I spent 7 hours in the emergency room at hospital....
My knee that I've been having problems with really gave out on me yesterday.
I'm thinking the splint and the crutches are going to slow the shop time down a bit.

Downside of this is they say I may need a new knee.
And I didn't even get time to clean my shop before this happened.:(

This Friday I get to visit my physician to see what the next step is.

Anyone want to come up here and build a few doors for me? :D

Sorry to hear the news about your knee Gary. Thats gonna slow you down some in more ways than just shop time. Hope it gets sorted quickly. I too will be a candidate for bionic knees at some point in the future given my past on motorcycles :) and the accidents that go with them.

Perhaps its time for getting a scroll saw you can sit down at and get some woodworking in that way.

Shop Time....

Well I can finally walk without crutches now. Not very fast or far but we are on the mend....
My therapy starts next week and I hope it gives even more relief before I get into see the specialist.
But who knows when that will be..
You really got to love our health care system:(

Bonus of the no crutch syndrome is I got some shop time today. Even though it wasn't long, it was shop time.
Got a little more BLO on a couple of the carcasses. Only two more to get the BLO bath.

Here is a shot of what will be torn apart. I have a little 10'X12' wing off the main part of my shop.
It's the "stash it here" part of my ship...
My wife wanted some more cabinets in the garage so these will be moved there.
The left side of the pic will be where my wood rack will be relocated to.
All my clamps will stay where they are. But the walls will get painted white.
Over time this is also where my cyclone will live.

Slowly we will move forward...
Hope everyone is getting a little shop time.

A little more progress...

So we are moving forward. Real slowly mind you, but forward never the less...
I'm walking with a cane now and get to see the orthopedic surgeon next week.
That is way faster than I expected and it's a good thing.
Who knows how fast for surgery. At least I'm going to see the guy with the knife.

All the cabinets have the BLO on them for my miter saw station upgrade now.
These little beggers are quite heavy.... And built like tanks.
These can now be moved so I can concentrate on the doors for the morticing station.
I'm even getting some of my floor space back.
Won't be long and some of these puppies will be going in place.

miter station.jpg

8 sliding shelves and a few drawers that will have hand cut dovetails.
Should make for some real good storage.
With the carcasses all at this stage I now can work with solid wood again.
I'm into this with around 12 sheets of cherry ply, a little maple for the sliding shelves, a couple of sheets of 1/2" BB
and a swak of 4/4 cherry.... I hope what I have on hand will do most of the doors.

I hope everyone is getting more shop time than me.:(

:lurk:

I like the sliding shelves. I've got a two cases of 100# glides in the shop, will have to put some of those to use on something like that when I get around to building cabinets. All coming along nicely. Hope all goes well with the surgeon.

That's it. I'm taking a four day weekend, flying to Alberta and playing Gary's shop-boy. Maybe he'll make me do hand cut dovetails till I can do it at the drop of a hat :D

A Little Shop Time...

The gimp got some shop time this weekend....
Not a ton but enough to get a couple of the door parts machined.
My lumber rack is off and the wall painted white.
Slow process if one is hobbling around.
Now as the cabinets are done they can go on the wall.

wall.jpg

First to doors of the five that are needed for this section.
As these doors are tall and slender I am going with three panels.
Panels were glued up this morning so tomorrow night they will get cut into three.
Blo will be put on the panels before final assembly.

door frames.jpg

Won't be long and we be doing a few drawers...
Then I will need Glenn to hop on a plane to give me a hand. :D

Hope everyone is getting a little shop time.
