small tool gloat

This is the first doug gouge i've ever owned.:D After all the good things i've heard about them,i took some of the money i got from the table i'm building, and got this 1/2"bowl gouge. Just got home from work and it was sitting on the table whating on me.:thumb: Can't what to try it.

Excellent choice. :thumb: Among my various Thompson tools, I have the 1/2" and 5/8" bowl gouges in the U and V shapes, and use all four pretty much all the time. (The 3/4" V and 3/8" shallow detail gouge also get used on nearly every piece.) Eventually you'll be adding to the one you just got. ;) They really are that good.

In my opinion, Doug's tools have been the best for several years. The new Glaser tools seem to be comparable steel-wise, and I'm sure they're excellent tools, but the Thompson tools are a lot more affordable. Nothing in their price range come close, and with the exception of the Glaser tools, nothing in ANY price range comes close.
