This vase started warping while I was hollowing, so it turned out heavier than I would have preferred. It was made from the heart of a crotch section and has a variety of grain patterns and colors. Finish is WOP. It is 15-1/2" tall X 11-1/2" diameter.

Wow Dennis, not only is that piece very pretty, it's very large. If the elm around you is like the elm around me, hollowing that thing must have been quite a chore. Beautifully done, and I like the collar, too.

I've run into the same "warping faster that I could turn it" on a couple of large elm crotch bowls. Even after the rough turned bowls were thoroughly dry, the finish turning released stresses and the wood was moving like a conga line.
