My wife came home with a box of wood strips (Aprox 100 strips) she was planning on using for kindling. I posted them last week asking for the identity of the wood type, the consenus was Beech. The strips are aprox 15" long, 1/4" thick in the center and taper to nothing at the ends and 1 1/4" wide.

first I rip the strips to 1"wide

Cut them to length

Made a Jig similar to a box joint jig to cut the notches 3/8" deep, 1/8" wide, 3/4" apart.

Drill 3/16" holes below and between the notches

Made a jig to hold the strips in place while the glue dries.

This is the finished piece (without the finish yet) It's leaning on a support, but is intended to hang on the wall. There are 5 brass hooks on the bottom strip to hang necklaces.

I've made these for years with flat strips, this is my first time with the curved ones, slightly more of a challenge.
