this has been a while coming, but finally it came to a head the other sunday. for years now, maybe a couple three times a year, i'd take a bite of something, and on occasion it feels like some of it gets stuck right around the collarbone. after a few seconds it will feel like it moves on. the other sunday it wasn't moving on, and not to make it too bad, after four unscheduled trips to the lil guys room, i decided to hit the er. well, they checked, but whatever it was that was stuck had made its way out during my visits. the regular doc is going to take a peek, then they may need to send me to a specialist to see what shakes. it hasn't bothered my since that sunday, but it's getting looked at anyway.

well, i'm scheduled to have them take a peek down the ol throat, finishing up at the stomach. will see what happens after that, and get it done before getting outsourced.

Hopefully it's nothing more than a esophagus that's too small, but good to get it checked out.

I used to have quite a bit of trouble, especially eating red meats, roast and brisket were the worst. I was told they could do a balloon treatment to expand mine, but I never got mine treated, just learned to chew my food up more and swallow in smaller amounts.

Will keep you in our thoughts.

one thing i'll have to remember to bring with me, is a postit note with the advisory, check from this end, and slap it on my forehead. just so they know which way they're going.... lol

Actually that sounds like a good idea. I've been in several hundred cataract surgeries. The eye to be operated on always had a round blue sticker by it. It can make a lot of people unhappy if the wrong thing gets the procedure. I mean, they look a lot alike.

I wish you the very best my friend (or am I still your friend?).

Enjoy,

JimB

well, had the sneaky snake run down my gullet this morning. they must have hit me with some good stuff, since the last i remember is a bit of discomfort when he started, then waking up a couple of hours later in the recovery area. primary impressions were reflux esophagitis, and possible eosinophilic esophagitis. i've got a prescription, and that should help. yes jim, you're still my friend (though you need to keep better track of those new marbles....:D)

Dan, i nearly died twice from scar tissue narrowing of the esophagus caused by acid reflux. The first time I was only around 25 yrs. old and if it wasn't for my best friend I wouldn't be here. He did the Heimlich maneuver on me to the point of bruising ribs, causing the food to finally dislodge. I was just about unconscious at that point. I had to have a balloon stretch procedure twice with biopsies, and take prilosec every day to keep the acid down.

Not much fun, but I'm still here. Surgery to fix the problem permanently is not that successful at this time. At least that is what the specialist told me last year.

I hope your issue isn't serious. I wouldn't ignore the problem though.

good luck.
