I really hate working with sheet goods these days. Heavy, clumsy, and trying to move an eight foot sheet in a garage with obstacles, well, you all know the drill.
I took my time, set up all the tables, laid down the pink boards to cut it on.
carefully set up the track saw, no rushing, Im under no time constraints.
cut up the sides of the sliding hamper cabinet Im working on, cut out the shelves, and measured it all up, nice and square, beautiful with a capital B.
Turned on the radio, some oldies, its 72 degrees outside, so while I didnt have any machines on, opened the doors, had some coffee, sat in the chair, listened to some music, enjoying the weather, the smell of sawdust, ah....it just doesnt get any better on a nice spring day.
set up the dados, measured, remeasured, and just because I measured again.
Made all my dado cuts for the case assembly.
uh oh.........I lined up the middle piece the wrong way, (2 sides, one middle piece), the dados I cut from the top, not the bottom, didnt line up.
No problem, one side doesnt have dados, so Ill just turn it and recut it, fill in the dados even though its inside a cabinet.
cut the dados, incredible, I cut it wrong again.
I didnt get aggrevated, things happen.
Lifted the rest of the sheet, took my time, recut down to size I needed for cabinet center.
Put the dados back in, used the side to line up the dados into the new center wall.
Like I had brain damage, I actually cut it the third time wrong again.
things went flying. alot of things went flying, and foul language was used.
I turned that piece around, and finally, I cut it right, just have the wrong dados once again on the inside and will fill them in if it bothers me eventually.
4 times to get it right. 4 times. simple simon stuff, 4 times.
I decided thats it, shut the lights, call it a day and I drove over to the Big A, figured I catch a race or maybe hit the craps machine.
the day turned out ok, I caught a couple of good rolls, came home with a nice win, maybe Ill put it to some wood and let my wife spend the rest.
Not sure if I want to go down and re poly the other cabinet, just may not be the right woodworking day for me today.
Just sharing my day.
