Scored some english walnut slabs a few weeks ago. I'm on a platter craze now so it fit very well!
14 1/4" Cheese and cracker platter, 6" green marble slab. I burned the rim and ran a file card over it for some texture, burned the accent ring, but due to sanding, some of the burning was sanded off. Touched it up with some dye and couldn't tell the difference. 2 coats of Tung oil finish. Just have to sand the backside and turn off the tenon. Pic is fuzzy because my tripod ran off. Thanks for looking! C&C always used on the next one!

Thanks guys!
Jeb, just a propane torch. I was doing the gradual toasting and it was taking a month...had the lathe running at 75 RPM. So I kinda burned a couple inches at a time and that worked better. Because this wanlut has a lot of figure, it doesn't burn equally...cool effect! With the texture from the file card, it has a old, distressed look to it.
