That would have been a real shame to have burned it... although I understand Box Elder stinks when burnt.. only burned my scraps and in open out door fire pit, so don't remember...

Any rate, you save a beautiful chunk of wood and turned it into a beautiful piece of art... I like turning the box elder... I found a log in a wood pile that TN DOT pushed off the side of the road where they were planning to rebuild a bridge... when I cut into it, I had that beautiful red all through the wood, not as nice as yours, but really nice... since the wood tends to be a little soft, it will also rot pretty fast... I don't have proper storage for my wood and it winds up in a nice pile behind the shop with just a tarp over it.... I think I lost about 1/3-1/2 of the log before I could get it all turned...
