Well a dab or two of glue in the mix to hold it all together with a smidgin of wax added to to kid the eyes that the joins are reasonable.

Thanks for the interest and comments folks, snowed under here with small off-cuts of wood and it's a case of trying to find a means of using them up whilst I wait for my stash of green logs in store to dry out.

Main occupations are trying to simplify the methods of cutting and gluing so that I get the accuracy straight off the saw to avoid the need to sand or tweak, which can be very time consuming and leads to more frustration and errors than is good for my patience, and getting my work holding methods sorted so that I don't have to spend time and effort trying to grab a piece in the chuck and wondering if it will stay there or fly off.
The other, more of an armchair exercise is looking for a shape and turning method/approach that will end up being of interest to others and yet not too taxing on the tool manipulation front.
