I purchased these 2 old boxes recently at a tag sale.
I liked the joinery and the handles.
I want to strip them down and restain them, repaint the hardware.
The lock part is screwed on, easy enough.
The handle part seems to be riveted on, dont know how I can get the handle off without breaking it.
Any help? clues?

I believe they were used to hold scopes in the engineering field.

Only way I know of would be to drill the peaned side of the rivet out and then push/punch it out. You'd obviously have to replace the rivets.

If you can't find rivets that match search "blacksmith supply" or "blacksmith supplies" for suppliers, most of them are pretty good to deal with.
