Saratoga Springs NY woodworking show-march 23,24

its always cool to meet a fellow woodworker.

a quick hamburger lunch.

elen and I headed out to the racino at saratoga racetrack, and I won 199 dollars and said, ok, lets go back now.

she lost 5 dollars, so I felt we had a good night. Im ready to spend it in the morning.

Great to see you got to meet up. :thumb:

And Allen, what you might lack in hair you make up for in smiles. ;) You have one of the best smiles out there.

I just went downstairs at 6:45 am, my wife sleeping woke up and yelled at me hey, youre on vacation, but its already rocking down there and the show dont open for hours.

I needed some coffee, gonna make me super hyper, maybe get up to dons level.

i was happy the hotel offered free wifi.

Great show in Saratoga and even better to meet Allen and his wife. We enjoyed a nice lunch before I headed home. Allen, I will let you know when we fire up the wood pizza oven this summer and hopefully you can take a ride up. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

I took a bit of pictures to show some of the spectacular and interesting work, but I realized I left my camera cable home, and cant load them into the computer.

I made the mistake of telling my wife to take the car out this morning, leave me at the show and go. so she went, straight to ann taylor loft and talbots.

then she continued on to the racino.

its like releasing a hurricaine.

she picked me up, I only spent 26 dollars on 30 pen blanks. I believe the show had less vendors then I recall.

I saw mr hack giving his class, and another class going on.

I ended up back at the racino and won another 144 dollars, not bad for yesterday and today, 344 bucks. when I get home Ill start purchasing pen kits, I was very dissapointed there was only one or two guys selling them and the selection was nothing, and no discount.

no pictures yet, noone had a cable to fit my camera and Im too lazy to go to an electronics store.

did get a nice visit with my niece up at college today.

Ill be ill all night, had a full rack of baby back ribs for dinner.

I also had a good time at the show. Tried not to spend too much-didn't really work. Allen is right about the phenomenal woodworking displayed. Sorry I didn't get to meet Sayer. Maybe next year. This is always a very busy weekend for me with helping at the show as well as Totally Turning. It was nice to see Allen again. It has been a few years. I did manage to get a photo as proof. That's me on the left in case you didn't figure it out already.

not sure why don doesnt post up any of his work, but I got shots of the handplane and saw he made at some classes, and Im posting it.
his turning work has always been top notch at previous shows, I think I noticed a piece or two at this show.

With a WoodCentral cap? The blastphemy!!!

Glad to see you guys got a chance to get together again. :thumb: Was Totally Turning happening in conjunction with this show? I know Todd from Monster Lathe Tools was going to be at TT, but didn't realize it was happening with this WW show.

not sure I can answer for don, but Im pretty sure I saw a booth in the vendor area for monster lathe tools, there were a few other guys there demonstrating hollowing systems.
totally turning is going on the same time, I saw they had a ballroom set aside for their members. guess thats where they kept all those cookies you guys always talk about.

baseball cap, I left it on my doorknob in my back room, forget to take it with me to use in pictures.(and maybe take a shot or two in canada)

some great work up at the show, heres a few shots, wonder if any of these were made by anyone here?

Thanks for posting the photos Allen. Most of my stuff is just ordinary so I don't bother posting it myself.

Totally Turning is in the same venue at the same time but is a completely separate event. Participants do get free run of Showcase though and Monster Tools was there. I didn't have much time to chat between demos and volunteer duties. A great time though. A whole weekend of full immersion woodworking.

Oh, sorry about the WoodCentral hat. It's my OTHER woodworking forum. There's also an SMC patch on my apron. I try not to play favorites.:)
