I have been hesitant to post this. Getting old and playing hard I have a had time excepting that I am just not as quick on my feet as I once was. While hunting last Saturday and moving rather quickly through the under brush trying to make a move on a large bird I tripped straight down on a stick sticking straight up about 2'. Just lucky it had a blunt end. If I did this on the farm in Lousia it would have been over. The beavers don't leave blunt ends. So just very lucky the stick was partly rotted. Still haven't told the wife , just don't need to upset her.

Sorry for the soft porn :D

Ouch! Had a buddy show me a similar bruise recently, a lot blacker from a kickback in the side of his stomach. Could see the imprint of the corner of the board even.

"haven't told the wife" ????? And it's been four days!?!?
Not sure how you can manage that. (a) I can't keep a secret from mine. Makes christmas and birthdays a challenge. and (b) she'd see it instantly the first time I stepped out of the shower or getting changed for bed.

Oh well, glad you're okay. We can't spend our days wrapped in cotton batting, so keep on enjoying those outdoors.
...art

I'll bet there was a big old tom sitting in a tree just laughing his butt off at you when that happened....his carefully placed man trap worked exactly as planned!

Ted that picture has me laughing like crazy.

Ouch Dave sorry to hear this ....think you better make sure the life insurance is paid up. :)

Hows you ribs.?

Ribs are fine Rob. But an uncomfortable bursa popped up on the elbow from a chip that happened back when the accident happened.
Rodger I know but I guess my mansion is not ready yet. :)

Back in the ?80's? (I think.. it gets fuzzier might have been the late 70's) an acquaintance of the family passed away when they were driving down a country road and hit a stick that popped up and pinned them to their truck seat  A year later (might have been two) we lost a horse that stepped on a stick that popped up and stuck him in the belly.

I'd claim that serious accidents of that sort are rare because those are the only two I've ever heard of but it sure makes you think...

Sure glad it wasn't worse anyway!!

My younger brother had the same thing happen a few years ago when out in the woods, his stick broke skin.....oh it was a a tad below the belt:eek::eek::eek: hope you feel better soon Dave
