Our Police force a few years back was thinking of getting a couple of Segway units... right up until the Chief of Police fell off and broke both arms.

Yep, those Segways certainly were not the hit I thought they would be. Couple people fall off and they disappear from the scene. Glad they didn't give up on horses that easily.

The problem with the segway? (IMHO of course) What did it offer that a bicycle didn't, for for less than 1/5th of the price?
This think looks cute, I agree. I'd like to know what their price is, and what they think their market is. I just read on the website that they don't exceed 12mph... so again, how is that better than a bike?

Art, I agree that a bicycle provides comparable (if not more versatile) transportation, but since they're powered, both the Segway and the Ryno require less physical effort on the part of the rider.

I'm not sure that I may have seen that on the Discovery Channel. Very cool. I'll have to look for it when I am in Portland for a very short time in July.

it amazes me people try to figure out how to make a mode of transportation that is already a bit risky just that much riskier.
