Many of you must be resting up after your"vacation" at Brent's place. Sounds & looks like you all had a great Time!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, it's busy, busy, busy! Today I'm re-arranging the shop to move one of the overhead lumber storage racks next to the other overhead rack to make room for a future air filtration system. The storage rack was somewhat centrally located, right where I want the AFS. More work than anticipated since I had to take down a 1/2"x4'x8' sheet of plywood that was screwed to the ceiling right where I want to re-locate the storage rack. The sheet had a couple dozen vinyl coated hooks attached to it that was used to hang some of my fishing rods. Very awkward taking it down alone, but it got done!

Dropped my car off at the Chrysler service station for a LOF, new set of tires (4), and new set of brakes (4). Shuttle vehicle brought me home & will bring me back. Was hoping to mow the lawn, but rain is getting in the way. Too much rain, not enough sun lately!

Tomorrow JoAnn & I are going to a memorial service for her uncle. Then I'm going to HF to pick up a 2HP dust Collector they have on sale for $200. Using a 20% coupon will bring it down to $160. Wasn't planning on buying one so soon, but can't pass up the deal.

Al, check out Wood Magazine. They have a coupon for the HFDC for $149.00. I think I may have one around if you can't find one.

Working on Saturday then off until Tuesday. The Doctors office called yesterday and offered to move up my Caudal injection in my back to next Wednesday :thumb: Got to take it easy for a few days but it should give me a few months of relief.
Sunday is my wifes gun safety course at the Sig Sauer factory in Exeter, NH. It's pretty much an all day program I think so I'll probably take a ride to Rockler, Woodcraft and the new Habitat for humanity store nearby.

Sounds busy all right. You can have some of my sun. I'm looking at breaking 100* for the next few days. It was 80* at 8am ;-)

Getting back into the swing of things after last weekend's fling. What a blast! Spent a few hours in the Putter Palace sorting and stowing. Gettign ready to move this show down the road ina couple of months. Don't know where yet. Ain't life a hoot?
Tonight is an outdoor play in Red Rock Canyon - The Music Man. Temp climbing to 111º today, so it will be warm there, but cooling to long sleeves after dark. That is the summer desert. Tomorrow is a meeting and service planning. Sunday is the usual work day for me.

Got some packages arriving today just in time to do a little shop improvement project.

Also need to put some of the training Carol gave us to work, and document some things.

looks like elen and I have to shop around for a new car.(later today, but I found the car already yesterday)
the 2001 jeep I gave my daughter, at 135 thousand miles, well, my mechanic told me he wouldn't let his daughter drive it.
I was hoping she drove it till end of year, finishing with her masters, able to stop spending money on tuition, get caught up, then purchase herself a new car.
Aint gonna happen, so I think were giving her the rogue,(2008 with only 14000 miles), let her use it until shes completely paid off and save some dough, then well take the trade in value on it, and since she was just in another accident with the jeep, Im waiting on the insurance to pay me back for the work I had to do to make it road worthy.

were thinking a ford edge.(my wife likes the looks of the car, and the reviews weren't bad) Dealership is the best around here, I like the people, and the deals are being offered, 0% financing, 1500 back.
but then again, you don't know my daughter. she may refuse and insist on driving the jeep until she can afford a new car.
Shes not here this week to discuss it with her, I don't want to bother her while shes at a friends wedding.
shes stubborn, not many kids would turn down a car with under 15000 miles on it, a car that is in mint condition.(for free)

I don't know how people who live with temps in the 100s with the high humidity do it. Its only in the 80s again today here, but humidity at 80% and dew points over 70 are making it soupy outside. Incredibly oppressive.

Of course I picked the hottest weekend of the year (so far) to come to LA and move junk around. I'm going to empty a 10' x 30' storage locker, sort through everything, and toss a bunch, sell a bit, and stash what's left over in the garage. In doing so, I'll be effectively shutting down my shop. :( I just can't justify paying $260/month for a storage locker so I can have shop space, when I only get to use the shop a few weeks out of the year.

Also as part of the "clearing out old stuff" movement, I'm going to get my wife's old Saturn coupe listed on Craigslist and see if we can get it out of the driveway. It's in excellent shape with the exception of a slipping transmission, and we're not interested in spending the money it would take to fix it.

Unlike out west or out east the temps are cooling down here in the midwest this weekend...high's in the 70s lows in the 50s, my kind of weather!! I hope to clear out the garage/shop this weekend and get ready for some upcoming projects (new mantle and tv console thing of some sort) I also have to finish up painting the walls and painting/installing new trim in our entry/stairs/upstairs hallway before I can start those, so some time will be spent doing that as well.

The local BIG art festival is this weekend as well so a trip downtown to see the artist's wares, drink some cold beverages and hear some music by some local bands and Los Lobos tonight and then Aaron Neville tomorrow night as well! :thumb:

Delivering the Partners desk tomorrow , little bit of work then home to take care of my honey. She is layed up from surgery on her foot. Sunday if the rain backs off nice bike ride to the farm in Va to do some deer stand work.

I know what I'm going to be doing. I woke up Tuesday morning and discovered a tornado must have hit the place, inside and out (either that or a bunch of woodworkers):rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

But seriously had a great time and will get back to my normal dull weekend of puttering around the garden and watching NASCAR. Maybe start getting the other guest room ready for painting since I ran out of time before the event :wave:

Attending an Eagle Court of Honor tonight, for a young man who was in my troop when he was 12 and 13.

Maybe tomorrow (after mowing my jungle of a back yard) I'll crack open my Suzuki and see why she refused to travel to Reno last week.

Hi it is 84 in my shop and that is High.

Myrna had a cold. Being the sweet thing that she is, she gave it to me. The night before last was the first night in a week that I didn't stay up most of the night coughing. I feel human again today, however as weak as a new born lamb. Us scrawny people do not take well to being sick. I am so glad that it is such a rare occurance for me.

Yesterday I designed and started putting in a new DC exhaust idea. My 2 hp DC just does not cut it for the lathe. I am hoping that the new design will move enough more air to make the lathe a happy place. I have the PennState DC 2000 and does a great job on the BS, sanders, and thickness planer. It does a great job on the Cabinet Saw bottom. I have no DC on the top of the machine. The lathe requires more air movement than I can get with my current 6" S & D ducting system and the DC 2000.

By the way if you are looking at the Delta or HF units take a look at the PennState DC 2000. It is in the same price range and it filters DOWN THROUGH 1 MICRON (300 - 500% better than the others). If it is going to be outside of the work area that is not a factor however. Just take a look at the stats on air volume moved, etc.

Enjoy,
JimB

97 here today, and it's going to get warmer of the next several. Just got the pool ready and as soon as Sharon gets back fromthe store, WE're jumping in!

Canada Day weekend! Company coming.
Forecast is pretty rainy, but if it clears a bit we'll have some barbeque, pool time, maybe get the boats in the water and get the barn dust off them. Haven't had much down time for many months.

This will hopefully be a catch-up-on-rest weekend. LOML and I left Monday and drove to Baton Rouge, LA, for some personal business.

From BR, we drove to Galveston, TX to spend a couple of days looking around at the recovery of the area. We spent a fair amount of time there until we moved away from Houston in January, 1998. It was good to see the city booming in most ways, but disappointing that a lot of what we had known was blown away by Ike.

To break the trip back home, we stopped for a night at The Grand Resort and Casino in Biloxi. Neighbors go there occasionally and we wanted to see what the hoopla is all about. We're not gamblers, but I've been know to drop a few coins on very rare occasions. We got back home this afternoon, Friday, and I'm ready for some barley pops and Beam!!! LOML has already been on the phone with a neighbor planning a breakfast/yard sale outing Saturday morning!

I'll probably be able to catch up on mowing Saturday, since we've had some rain. My main objective is continued research on my project to get a new table saw and the Incra TS-LS52 system. I'm leaning toward the Grizzly G0690 because of their implementation of the riving knife as well as other features and price, but more on that in another thread.
