but what the heck (can one say heck?), august 2014 is just around the corner. this is the first of i think will be 5 entries to the fair for next year. i had this pretty good idea for a clock that wouldn't go away, so i decided to go with it. since i have a bit of leftover quartersawn white oak, that's what it is going to be made of. it will be stained, and coated with shellac. this was one of the items on my to do list. told you guys i was a busy monkey today! :D

worked on the clock a bit more today. did all the final fittings, and drilled the mortises for the tenons.

got a little bit further with the clock today. after sanding it was dyed with a mix of trans tint dyes that i cannot remember, but have it marked on the bottle. that was last night, today, gave it a light rub down with 400 grit, and gave it a nice coat of seal coat. after we get back from the gym tonight, i will be giving it a rub with minwax's walnut gel stain. if dried by tomorrow, its another coat of seal coat, then the good shellac finish.

got bored, so after a few hours of tv, gave it the seal coat and 2 coats of clear shellac. later on, it will be a coat of paste wax, and then try to figure out how to assemble it.

final assembly of the clock commenced yesterday. it was a bit of touch and go, as i wasn't too sure how to put the whole thing together. enjoy!
