Working on live-edge walnut, have some questions

Tung oil can take a long time to cure. Any sanding for the next few weeks will likely clog the paper quickly. As Larry suggested, mineral spirits and/or a mesh sanding material will help. Putting more finish on it right now will not help, especially more of a finish that can take weeks to cure. (One of several reasons I don't use pure tung oil.)
 
Mike, whatever you do, don't be sorry about questions. Many of these guys have the answers and myself, I learn ahead so when I do encounter this hopefully I can remember the answers. So, keep asking away.
 
ok got all the scratches out with dna and 400 grit wet sand paper. The slab of wood now has a light white tint. I used a damped cloth to wipe moist of it off. I assume its just some residue that will come off once i put another coat of tung oil?
