Gunpowder Finish

Interesting technique indeed. Not real fond of the scorched look on the face of the guitar, but I really like the lines of the bridge, heel, and especially the tuning head.
 
That scorched finish looks just plain ugly to me. Eye of the beholder, I guess. Have to wonder what kind of "gunpowder" was used. I suspect it was really black powder as many modern reloading powders will not flare like that when a match flame is put to them.

Agreed on all points. :yes: I wonder if the finish looks better in person than it does in the videos. :dunno: And it's been a long time since I tried to light any gunpowder with a match, but in my misspent youth I did learn that it doesn't always respond the way they show it in cowboy and pirate movies. ;)
