Hmm, the DW788 is on sale at Amazon for $329. That's $170 cheaper than the $499 the next cheapest places seem to have them and almost $100 cheaper than cpo has refurbs for.

Seriously considering upgrading from my craftsman vibration master super rattle version.

Actually looks like a bunch of dewalt stuff is fairly heavily discounted today: http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=gbsl_tit_l-1_4142_fb5dcd91?node=8120554011
They say "45% off" but looks more like 30-35% off of real world prices, still a pretty good drop.

I ordered well after midnight Eastern and got the sale price. Supposed to be here Christmas Eve..

I think you got a real good price for that saw. Is this your first scroll saw? One up grade you will want to make is a lift that holds the upper arm up when changing blades. A person could make a device for this, however there are several commercial products available that are very reasonably priced to do it, fact so reasonable that I didn't think it was worth trying to make one. I purchased the one from Jim Dandy Products: http://www.jimdandy.com/products.html, but like I said there are some others that look like they would work well.

My next upgrade is going to be a foot pedal, then I'd like to get a good light with a magnifying glass.

Have fun, it is a great saw.

In the past I had a low end Griz I was pretty happy with. I had added some pretty expensive plain end blade holders. But i have passed it on to my son for pinewood derby work. I was supposed to look at a 1984 RBI from craigs list next week. But it 350 and no Variable speed. SO when this came up I jumped on it. There seem to a lot of haters since production moved offshore but still a lot of 5 star reviews..

Not a serious scroller but hate to work with junk...

We are looking forward to getting it.

Tried to buy one there, but they wouldn't accept PayPal. I found a couple "others" that accept PayPal: http://www.bigfootproducts.ca/Click-N-Lock.html ($34.90 includes S&H) and http://papasworkshop.net/index.php?id_product=8&controller=product&id_lang=1 ($29.95 Plus S&H).

The Jim Dandy looks like the best quality device. YET, for me, I simply use a wooden block under the head that I feel works very well, especially when compared to these "others", and decided to forego the Jim Dandy.

This is what I used for years, but when I built my new cabinet to put my saw on, this just didn't go with the decor and it kept falling off my slanted cabinet top. I decided it was time to upgrade. Guess I could have painted it and put a hook on it to hang it with...
