How Many Cars..

In order

1975 Ford Pinto
1975 Ford Elite
1970 Ford F100
1980 Ford F150
1991 Chevy S10
1971 International Harvester 1110
1996 Ford Contour
2000 Isuzu Rodeo
1996 Chevy K1500
2006 Chevy Silverado
1997 Chevy Tahoe
1999 Ford Expedition
2014 Jeep Wrangler

The IH has been my only "toy", which I bought for $250 and rebuilt the cab and body, exchanged the straight 6 for a chevy 350, and did a lot of re-engineering to get things working in it. Took forever to do anything with it as I had to cross reference part numbers usually to other makes/years of cars to get the right parts. As my uncle used to say, they built them with what ever parts they had on hand that day.

If I was to say I had any loyalty, it leans towards Ford, but cant say I've had any issues with any other brands (well other than my 2006 sliverado, it was a lemon).

Ted said "Interesting...I thought I would see brand loyalty, and there is some, but not as much as I thought there would be. I also thought there would be a trend toward more expensive rides as people aged, but that didn't happen."

I was raised in Ford family, but as I got older and my wife's sister married a guy that worked on his race cars all the time and he wouldn't touch a Ford. I had to switch Chevy so he could do my repair work!

37 Ford deluxe
47 Dodge Fluid drive
51 Buick Special
57 Ford Ranchero
64 Ford Galaxie 500
Crosley with a flat head V8 project cart
51 Cheverolet P/U
70 Mercury Marauder
75 Ford F150
79 Ford F150
79 Buick LaSabre
86 Ford Tauraus s/w
94 Mercury Sable
2000Ford Explorer Limited
2006 Ford Tauraus
98 Dodge Dakota
2005 Ford F150 Crew Cab

Looking back I sure wish I had some of these cars again. They are worth some big bucks.
Until I listed these out I did not realize how many autos I have had the honor of driving and then not so honored in some of the others.

Lets see here.

1) First car I started driving regularly was my Dads old 1972 station wagon once he got a new car.

2) Then I bought a 1973 Nova 2 door. I loved that car and had it ready for paint when it was totaled by a woman running a stop sign. That was November 13 1987. Friday the 13th!

3) That same night I picked out a Dark Blue Metallic 1982 Monte Carlo. That was my second favorite car right behind the Nova. It had 270,000 miles on it when I sold it.

4) The worst car I ever had was a 1976 maverick with a 302. Only way I could sell it was the person that bought the cb antenna off of it also had to take the car. Only bought it because the price was right and we
needed a second car at the time.

5) The one I regret getting rid of was a 1984 Jeep Cherokee XJ 2 door with 4 wheel drive and a manual transmission. We had some serious fun with that when it snowed. When we moved to Texas it spent alot of time
in the dunes on Bolivar peninsula and quite a few bayous.

6) 1974 Chevrolet fleetside pickup with a full length bed regular cab. When one of my co workers mentioned he might sell it I told him it was sold that I wanted it. That was in 1999 and I have no intentions of ever
getting rid of it.

7) 1999 GMC Jimmy we bought in 2002 because the Cherokee was having electrical issues. The Jimmy had 285,000 on it when we gave it to my daughter.

8) I bought a 1996 Ford Escort because I needed a car with decent mileage as I was traveling 120 miles round trip for work. I still currently have and drive it with 285,000 miles on it.

9) Just bought a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo for the Wife for Valentines day. Couldn't pass it up for $600 since it is a solid vehicle with cold a/c and excellent condition. That has 158,000 on it.

Don't know if it's the mileage champ but it will still burn the rubber off the tires from a standing stop just by mashing the gas pedal and run like a scalded dog! Daughter wasn't to happy with me though.

Interesting...I thought I would see brand loyalty, and there is some, but not as much as I thought there would be. I also thought there would be a trend toward more expensive rides as people aged, but that didn't happen.

I'll buy a car if the price is right and it gives me the right feeling. I can't explain it but if I get good vibes from it I never have a problem with the car. The only car I ever hated from day one was the ford maverick and that car was nothing but problems and it truly meant fix or repair daily.

All the others I would drive the living snot out of without a problem.

Alan ya got me wondering if your Jimmy is the mileage champ. My old 318i Beemer had over 250k when I gave it away. Anybody beat the Jimmy?

We had an 85 Jetta we drove for 740,000km (440,000+miles). Everyone wanted to take it over a million, but finally it didn't meet the reliability we needed. (Getting to the airport and kids safely to hockey games over winter roads) Funny part is, I gave it to the kid who worked for my mechanic and he's still driving it!!! although he hopped it up with the wheels all cockeyed and one of those mufflers that 20 year old kids think will entice girls to jump in with them (no success to date, as far as I know :)
